The essential difference with an e-bike is that as that pedal power is assisted by battery power, and you can control the proportion of both by a button control on the handlebar. This allows you to expend as much or as little energy as you choose. If you are cycling up a hill or into a head wind, for example, you may choose to increase the level of battery assist. Alternatively, if you are pedalling on a flat or downhill surface, or just feeling that bit energetic, you can reduce the battery assist to eco-mode, or even switch it off altogether!
Our e-bike tours operate from Magennis Place, off Pearse St, near Dublin City Centre and range from 3 hours to a full day in duration. Specific tour duration and alternative start and finish locations can be accommodated by prior request and agreement. The routes are planned so they follow cycle lanes and tracks a much as possible, while taking in the sights, sounds and smells of the environment. The pace is leisurely with plenty of stops, so participants only require a reasonable level of fitness and be in good health. Some experience of cycling is required but there is a range of tours available for most levels of fitness and experience.
All bike tours are with a local guide who will provide a live commentary for the duration of the tour. Safety helmets and high visibility vests can be provided, but guests are asked to bring their own if they have them. High quality e-bikes are provided as part of the tour fee, but guests may bring their own bike if they wish.
